| My Country. |
Australia is a vast country, but only a small part of it is inhabited. The eastern and southern seaboards are the main areas of popualation, and also the western seaboard in parts. Other than that, there are small pockets of population in inland areas, but as this country is pretty inhospitible, there is more vacant land than there is populated land. My little part of Australia is on the south-east coast. The state is Victoria, and I live in an outer south-eastern suburb called Dandenong, which is about 35 kilometre's from Melbourne, the states capital. Victoria is the second smallest state, and the climate is classed as cool-temperate. It is a very pretty state, with not much useless ground; unlike other, larger states which have a lot of inland areas that are too hot and dry to cultivate. There are many things to see and do in Victoria, and because the state is only fairly small, you can see most of it in a relatively short time. You can see beautiful scenery, see the Fairy Penguins at dusk on the beach, see snow in winter, visit world class museums and art galleries, or the casino if it takes your fancy, and dine out at some of Melbourne's fabulous restaurants. Other states have wonderful things to see and do also, but as they are much bigger, there is a lot more travelling involved in order to see it all. My favourite spot is the Gold Coast in Queensland. The scenery is so beautiful, the people are warm and friendly and it bustles. It really is the place to go for sand, sea and fun nightlife. I guess it's the Hawaii of Australia. There are also 4 theme parks, so you get the fun and frivolity of Disneyland too. The climate in this area of Queensland is sub-tropical, so it doesn't get too hot or too cold, but it can be very humid in the rainy season, which is from January to March. The picture of course comes from Sydney, the capital of New South Wales. The harbour in Sydney is really second to none in the world, and there is lot's to see and do; on, around and not too far from the harbour. This is my favourite part of NSW. There is still so much of this magnificent country I have yet to see. I also want to travel overseas again, and hope to do so in the next few years. | |||||||||||||||||||

I am 47 years old and have been married for nearly 22 years. I have a 25 year old daughter from a previous relationship and 4 boys from my marriage. I am currently undertaking a degree in nursing at the Monash University, and am in my final year. Once I graduate, I hope to specialise in oncology nursing, and of course, hope to earn enough to indulge my desire to travel. (hehe) You may well be wondering why I have a picture of lions here? Well, it's because I am a member of Lions; an international service organisation with members in most countries of the world. My club is Hampton Park in District 201-V5. I have made many friends in my time as a lion, many of which live in other areas of the country. I love being a part of this great organisation, and not only do I meet people from all areas and walks of life, but it also gives me an opportunity to make a difference in my community. We have many projects that we undertake to help people in our community as well as the wider communites. Appart from my studies and involvement in Lion's, I have a fairly full life. I like to go out to dinner with family and friends, and like to play 10 pin bowling and Pitch and Putt golf. I also love reading and cross-stitch embroidery. | A Bit About Me. | |||||||||||||||||||
